Sharks Come Cruisin leading a PVD Shanty Sing at The Parlour in Providence

Sharks Come Cruisin: Last PVD Shanty Sings as The Parlour Goes Up for Sale

Providence shanty crew Sharks Come Cruisin are marking the end of an era. Their longtime North Main Street home, The Parlour, is up for sale — and the band’s November newsletter flags the next two PVD Shanty Sings as the last ones at the room that made the sing possible.

Friday, November 13 (6pm) is next; Friday, January 8, 2027 is the final Parlour Shanty Sing. Owner Gregory Rourke told GoLocalProv there’s no hard closing date, but the building is on the market after a decade-plus of neighborhood live music. “If not for the Parlour, there would be no PVD Shanty Sing,” the band wrote — twelve years and counting. First set family-friendly till 7:30; second set, swear like sailors. Also booked: Aidan’s duo sets in Bristol (Nov 15, Dec 13) and New Bedford Whaling Museum First Friday on December 4.
