Their new album, Bunch Of Bastards, has been out worldwide since September 19th, eight years after 11 Pints & 3 Shots, with a green marbled vinyl edition out November 16th and a home-turf release party on November 28th We sent over a few questions, and Lanze, MacRünker and Kentop came back with Pogues confessions, a beer verdict nobody saw coming and a question of their own for us.

Muirsheen Durkin & Friends: Bunch Of Bastards

Germany’s Muirsheen Durkin & Friends just released their third long-player, Bunch Of Bastards — eight years after 11 Pints & 3 Shots, and still serving Irish Celtic folk-punk with a boot and a bottle. Thirteen tracks: five originals, five traditional, three covers, all dressed for the pit. Official release was 19 September (CD now; vinyl eyed for 16 November), with the home-turf launch at Wackenberg Open-Air Party near Möhnesee. Festival circuit already lined up for 2027. Have a drink, ya bastards.

Bunch of Bastards: Drink, Holler and Dance

Drink, Holler and Dance, the new album from Dutch, Celtic-punks, Bunch of Bastards, came about quite by chance. The Bastards had booked some studio time to record a couple of songs over a weekend. Well, drinks did flow, and songs did spill, and the boys two songs, ended up being an 11 track new album. Six new songs, a cover of, Tell Me Ma, and four older tracks re-recorded.

Drink, Holler and Dance, kicks off with the gritty, punky, mandolin led, Three Legged Dog, and continues along in a glorious, arm in arm, pub sing along style. While track three, Hand of a Bastard Son, reminds me a lot of Flogging Molly, the rest of the album is closer to the rough edged sounds of The Rumjacks and The Peelers. I love the high speed, punk-polka-pogo of, Pogo Never Ends, and the re-recorded, Sky over Rotterdam, is great.

Drink, Holler and Dance is for fans of old school, dirty, Celtic-punk.

Bunch of Bastards: My Drinkin’ Ain’t Done

July 20, 2016

My Drinkin’ Ain’t Done is fast’n’rowdy Celtic punk meets Gypsy from the Netherlands. Low, growling lead vocals, all the bhoys on the piss gang vocals, accordion, banjo, mandolin and dirty sleaze-rock guitars with a Bastard attitude. Reminiscent and obviously influenced by the Dropkick Murphys, Blood or Whiskey and the Dubliners and for spice the junkyard sounds of Tom Waits and early Dolomites and The Zydepunks. A strong debut from a band with a great promise.
