Tenholes: Satya Keeps the Fire Burning in Jakarta

East Jakarta Celtic punks Tenholes are back with Satya, their third album, out now on demajors. Eight Indonesian-language songs follow one life from street-corner kid to a father standing up for his own: family, promises, love, loss, the working-class grind and a fight that won’t go out.

“Satya is about a promise, the fire we keep, and resistance that never dies,” says singer Ukien Skins. Focus track “Api Yang Pernah Kita Jaga” (“The Fire We Once Kept”) is about letting go of the dreams you fought for. Zuri Mandolina adds mandolin to “Janji Lelaki”, and the record closes on a piano-and-fiddle take of “Semua Sodara”: we’re all brothers.

Streaming everywhere now, with the CD through demajors. Proof the Celtic punk gospel went global a long time ago.
