Dublin six-piece Madra Salach have announced their debut album, Gorta, out January 15, 2027 on Island Records. It’s led by last week’s punkier single “Ribbon Factory.”
Gorta is Irish for hunger, and the ten tracks dig into inheritance. “The ideas of longing and yearning, all the kinds of hunger, they slot into where we are as 21st century Irish people,” says frontman Paul Banks.
All six wrote it and cut it live in New York with producer Loren Humphrey. The sleeve shows a Blemmyes, the headless creature of legend with its face in its chest. LP, CD, cassette and an Irish-only clay vinyl.
Meanwhile the lads are mid sold-out UK tour, play Later… with Jools Holland this month and hit the US East Coast in November. Then it’s a sold-out Vicar Street on Dec 10th.
