Levellers: Levelling The Land Turns 35

Brighton’s crusty-folk standard-bearers Levellers release a 35th anniversary edition of Levelling The Land on October 16 via Warner. It’s a brand new Al Scott remix from the original multitracks, with the low end the record company stripped out in 1991 finally put back.

The 3CD set piles on five B-sides, nine unreleased outtakes and 12 demos from a cassette drummer Charlie Heather turned up after nearly 30 years in a cupboard. The remix also gets a single LP, and “Fifteen Years (Outtake)” is already out as the taster.

The anniversary tour hits Ireland at Belfast’s Mandela Hall on October 22 and Dublin’s Vicar Street on October 23, with Essex punks The Meffs in support. Most of the UK run is already sold out, so don’t hang about.

One Way, Liberty Song, Battle Of The Beanfield. Still the blueprint for fiddle-driven folk-punk.
