Tir Nan Og: Call of the Void Lands Tomorrow, Then the Born To Folk Tour

Bavarian Irish folk-rockers Tir Nan Og mark 25 years with Call of the Void, their seventh album, out tomorrow, October 23. Fan-funded, it’s pipes and fiddle wrapped round mythology, life, death and a good kick at the state of things.

“What a Time” is the earworm: a jolly “what a time to be alive” chorus over verses about war, warped truth and runaway consumption. Stan Rogers’ “Barrett’s Privateers”, “Ship of Fools” and an orchestral reworking of old favourite “The Wanderings of Oisin” are already out as singles. Vinyl and a USB-stick cassette are up for pre-order, shipping around December.

The Born To Folk Tour kicks off November 6 at Hannover’s Subkultur and runs 13 shows through Düsseldorf, Munich, Leipzig, Hamburg, Vienna, Frankfurt and Münchenstein in Switzerland, wrapping January 8 at Nuremberg’s Hirsch with Saint City Orchestra and Albi’s Corner, the solo project of Fiddler’s Green frontman Albi.
