The second Johnny Fean Rhythm & Blues Festival, honouring the late Horslips guitarist and the man behind that Dearg Doom riff, runs October 23–26 across Shannon and Limerick, hosted by the Shannon Springs Hotel. And yes, Horslips will be in the house.

Opening night is Friday, October 23 at Dolan’s Warehouse, Limerick (doors 8pm), with the Pat McManus Band and The Lost Steps, special guests Jim Lockhart and Barry Devlin of Horslips, and Ray Fean presiding. Donal Fean, Gail Fean, Richie Buckley and more are also listed, with further acts to be announced. The full Shannon Springs line-up is still “coming soon.”

Money raised goes to the Clare branch of Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind, for the upkeep of Johnny, a black Labrador guide dog the Fean family sponsored and named in his honour.
