Boston’s Dropkick Murphys just dropped The Meanest of Times back onto the turntable — a BMG double-vinyl reissue of their 2007 classic, out September 25th.
That’s the record that chashed into the Billboard Top 20, scored Rolling Stone’s year-end list (as if that mattered). Fifteen tracks of Milton via Dorchester grit: “(F)lannigan’s Ball” with Ronnie Drew and Spider Stacy trading verses, “Johnny, I Hardly Knew Ya,” “Fairmount Hill,” and the rest of the pub-punk sermon.
Nearly two decades on and the vinyl still smells like spilled Guinness and loyalty.
