Street Dogs: Paradise Homecoming

Boston’s own Street Dogs just punched a hometown date into the calendar — Friday, December 18 at the Paradise Rock Club on Comm Ave. Mike McColgan’s Irish-tinged street-punk crew (ex-Dropkick Murphys frontman, firefighter, forever Savin Hill) land back where the boots slam hardest, with Gang Green and Liberty And Justice on the bill. Doors 6:30.

Shanghai Treason: Small Town Hero

Yorkshire flat cap banjo punks, Shanghai Treason just lobbed another single into the pit. Small Town Hero — third teaser for the next album, out mid-September via Kicker — is burnout anthem energy: ditch the M1 grind, back to fields, generators and black boots.

Muirsheen Durkin & Friends: Bunch Of Bastards

Germany’s Muirsheen Durkin & Friends just released their third long-player, Bunch Of Bastards — eight years after 11 Pints & 3 Shots, and still serving Irish Celtic folk-punk with a boot and a bottle. Thirteen tracks: five originals, five traditional, three covers, all dressed for the pit. Official release was 19 September (CD now; vinyl eyed for 16 November), with the home-turf launch at Wackenberg Open-Air Party near Möhnesee. Festival circuit already lined up for 2027. Have a drink, ya bastards.

Mary Wallopers: Paddywhackery

Dundalk’s rowdiest export The Mary Wallopers — Irish folk with a boot up the arse — just put Paddywhackery out (18 Sept via BC Records). Lead single Crowns of England was the warning shot; now the full eleven-tracker’s live and a UK/Ireland run’s stacked through autumn.

1916: Conscience of Kings

Nashville’s (and formerly Rochester, New York’s) rowdiest pint-swilling Irish psychobilly punks, 1916, have dropped their sixth full-length album, Conscience of Kings, and it detonates! Produced by the legendary Ted Hutt, this 12-track, 37-minute riot of Irish punk, rockabilly swing, and foot-stomping Celtic fire is the breath of fresh air that the scene needs.

Kicking off with the high-octane “America,” the lads drag you straight into tales of immigration, the fight, and hard-won freedom. “The Mollies” is a gritty, shit kicker about the Molly Maguires and the battle for miners’ rights in Pennsylvania, while “O’Rorke” charges like a rockabilly cavalry charge through Johnny Reb’s lines. They twist the trad classic “I Know My Love” into something fresh, fierce, and original, while “On the Radio” delivers pure catchy punk-power-pop. “Covered in Gold” is a slow-burner, “Drums of War”, “Upon the Green”, and “Here in the Days” keep the foot stomping, shitkicking, working-class fire burning bright—no filler, just pure passion and melody crashing into chaos.

Turn it up until the neighbors complain — then turn it up again.

Shank Painters: New Album

I wanted to give a shout-out to Shank Painters, pirate punks, moored in Portland, Maine. On June 18th, they will be launching their fourth studio album, Spitfire. Spitfire is described as a rollicking mix of reimagined traditional sea shanties and Irish folk tunes, genre-bending originals, and floor-stomping rebel songs. Check out the video for “South Australia,” the advance single from the album.
