Holloway Jack, the first single from the new Mahones album, Jameson Street, is now available on Spotify and the other platforms. Jameson Street is out October 7th.

The Gobshites give us 40 wacks
August 4 is the 128th anniversary of Lizzie Borden’s handy ax work . The Gobshites will be releasing the cover of the Chad Mitchell Trio song about her.

Flogging Molly new album
Anthem, the new album from Flogging Molly is out September 9th. The album is produce by Steve Albini who of course produced Swagger and Drunken Lullabies. Check out the first single from Anthem, The Croppy Boy ‘98, here.
Dropkick Murphys: This Machine Still Kills Fascists
Dropkick Murphys have announced a September release for their new album, This Machine Still Kills Fascists. If the title seems vaguely familiar it’s because it’s based on the ol’ Woody Guthrie slogan. The album itself is a collection of new acoustic music set to the lyrics of Guthrie – hence the title I guess. Dropkick Murphys interpretation of Woodies’ Shipping Up To Boston pushed the Murphys into the big time and endeared them to a nation of Firemen, Bros and Soccer Moms.
This Machine Still Kills Fascists was recorded in Tulsa, OK., Woodie’s hometown, and produced by Ted Hutt (Walker Roaders). The album will be without Al Barr who is currently absent from the band due to family health issues. The Murphys will support the album with an acoustic tour in October. I’m seeing them at the Ryman in Nashville. So if you’re there, buy us a pint.
The Mahones: Jameson Street
Just got to hear an advance copy of the new Mahones album, Jameson Street, and it’s really impressive. In some regards it’s a throwback to the early Mahones releases and features multiple guests including Dave from the Peelers and Nick from the Dreadnoughts as well as members of the original legendary Mahones line-up. There is also a special treat on the album for Pogues fans.

The Winter Codes (ex-Blood or Whiskey)
The Winter Codes, an Irish folk/punk duo featuring former Blood or Whiskey members David Walshe and Barney Murray release their long in the works debut LP, Set The Darkness Reeling, in August. The album is an emotional tribute to fallen band member Paul Walshe, who tragically passed away ten years ago. With this release, he is immortalized, and the album even features some of his expert musicianship on some of the tracks.
The album was recorded at the famous Grouse Lodge recording studio where both Flogging Molly and Michael Jackson have recorded.
We are long time fans of Barney’s here at Shite’n’Onions so we are super stroked to get new music from him after all these years.

Celtic rock granddaddies, Horslips, have announced the release of, More Than You Can Chew, a career retrospective boxset containing an incredible 35 disks.
33 CDs with 506 audio tracks – 252 of which (16 hours) are previously unreleased
2 DVDs with 60 video tracks and 2 documentaries – 43 of which (4.5 hours) are previously unreleased
2 books – On The Record (a lavish new recording history of Horslips) and Lyricography
5 signed vintage 8 x 10 photos
