I got a message from a Boston based undergraduate student of anthropology. She is writing her senior thesis on Celt-punk, and peripherally, other forms of folk-punk and is trying to get a sense of who listens to this music and why. She has asked for help and get insight from S'n'O readers into the scene.
Just to let everyone know that there has been a wee Bit of a delay with the podcasts - 2 issues, I've been busy at work (boo) and the frigging laptop I was using frigging died.
So if you do need a fix of Celtic Punk check out the following podcast from Rory in the Bronx.

The grand 10th ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATIONS of JOE HURLEY'S ALL-STAR IRISH ROCK REVUE will take place on Saturday, March 14th at the beautiful new NYC venue, (Le) Poisson Rouge, once home of the historic VILLAGE GATE . The venue is equipped with a state of the art sound system, superb acoustics, and great sight lines. The history here is perfect for the Irish Revue -- exactly 50 years ago, the legendary Clancy Brothers first performed at the Village Gate, bringing their rebel songs to NYC with an energy that ultimately helped popularize Irish music in America. The Irish Rock Revue is bringing it all back home for it's 10th anniversary.
Joe Hurley will also sit in and sing with the six-time Grammy-winning, Irish Legends The Chieftains during their annual round of St. Patrick's Day shows in the tri-state area. He'll appear with the band on Thursday March 12 at the Count Basie Theatre in Red Bank, NJ.
The Irish Rock Revue will also be toasting the 80th Birthday of the IRISH ECHO ( America's biggest Irish weekly). The Echo will join longtime friends GIBSON and GUINNESS as sponsors of the Revue, so look for special promotions in their pages, and weekly updates on special guest performers.
Here's what to expect: A PADDY ROCK & ROLL CIRCUS! Every year during the St Patrick's season, NYC singer/songwriter Joe Hurley salutes his Irish heritage with a blazing all-night long musical extravaganza that celebrates Ireland's musical gifts to the world -- The All-Star Irish Rock Revue.
